Description

What is gold filled?

Gold Filled is made by bonding gold to a base metal to give it the appearance of solid gold. The process involves a high amount of heat and pressure and the resultant gold filled piece is typically much more durable than a gold plated piece and will not tarnish or chip. They are also safe for those with metal allergies.

The layer of gold on gold-filled items is 5 to 10 times thicker than that produced by regular gold plating, and 15 to 25 times thicker than that produced by gold electroplate.

Gold-filled has a life span of about 10 to 30 years.
