We are a Kiwi business based in Taranaki, New Zealand, owned and operated by our own Queen Bead, Nia Chesswas. We first opened in Point Chevalier, Auckland in 2004 and  in 2013 relocated to the heart of Taranaki. The business has grown and changed considerably over the last 19 years as we have sought to diversify our products and meet the changing needs of our beading community. We now have a YouTube channel (as of January 2024), join Nia for tutorials, tips, tricks, techniques and more!

Our Stratford premises are open to the public on Tuesday mornings 10am -1pm, and we open by appointment on Thursdays. Our online shop has over seven thousand items. You can shop 24/7 and we ship on Tuesday and Thursday each week.
With Nia having 5 home schooled bead babes, a busy life on the farm and in the local community, your emails can be answered at interesting times of the day and night, but they always get answered!

Nia hand selects our products from around the world, designs kitsets, maintains the website and creates tutorials as well as supervising the picking and packing of the parcels as we send our beads and findings throughout New Zealand and across the world. She finds time to do the accounts and GST in the midst of her very full life. Somehow, it all gets done!

Hannah, Aimee and Niki are the rest of Team Bead. These lovely and efficient women help pack your orders, restock the shelves, create and package mixes and generally help keep things going smoothly with the beads. Hannah and her husband are dairy farmers with 4 children, and Aimee (currently on leave) and her husband are sheep and beef farmers with 2 children. Niki lives in town and often pops in to sort things out on our 'off' days! She is the mother of 8 adult children. As busy mums we can support each other, be flexible around children and farm jobs and enjoy some company working with and around beautiful colourful things.

We thank you for your ongoing support of our locally owned family business which has enabled us to continue to provide you with a wonderful array of goods for all your beading needs (and wants!)
